Within the framework of the international symposium Society for Information Display International Symposium 2021 (SID 2021), which will be held from 20 to 25 May in Long Beach, Clairvoyante intends to show new possibilities for controlling the parameters of displays of mobile electronic devices using PenTile Mode Control technology.

As it became known, the exposition will include a variety of mobile display modules, in which PenTile RGBW technology is used to increase the brightness of the glow and reduce power consumption. In addition, PenTile Mode Control technology will be introduced, a backlight control tool for static or dynamic selection of display color purity and power consumption levels.

Clairvoyante is going to show displays made using both low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS) technology and amorphous silicon (a-Si) technology, and control chips with PenTile RGBW support.

In particular, qVGA and VGA modules with sizes from 2.8 to 7 inches, including widescreen ones, will be shown; transreflective qVGA-modules using PenTile RGBW, which are 1.5 times higher than similar products manufactured using conventional technology in terms of light transmission and reflection; microcircuits of the Tomato series that control a large format 4-inch VGA-module manufactured by Samsung, which uses PenTile RGBW technology.

According to the manufacturer, the presented solutions are well suited for mobile video devices, UMPCs, terminals for wireless Internet access, car monitors and cell phones. It is no coincidence that PenTile technology is licensed by an increasing number of display and IC manufacturers interested in a cost-effective way to reduce the power consumption of mobile devices.

In conclusion, a few numbers: according to the company, PenTile Mode Control technology can statically reduce the power consumption of the display by 50% or dynamically, when the brightness changes depending on the image on the screen, by 15-65%.
