Ampro COM 840: Santa Rosa on a 95 x 125 mm board
Ampro Computers, which recently unveiled the industry’s first ruggedized 1GHz PCI-104 processor board, showed attendees at its recent Embedded Systems Conference its COM Express family of modules.
The family includes modules COM 830 and COM 840. The first of them is designed to install a dual-core Intel Core Duo U2500 microprocessor (1.2 GHz) or a single-core Celeron M 423 (1.07 GHz). The COM 840 module is distinguished by a design that is more resistant to external influences and support for the promising Centrino Pro platform (codenamed Santa Rosa). The module is designed for processors Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2 GHz) and Core 2 Duo L7500 (1.6 GHz) with 4 MB L2 cache and 800 MHz FSB.
Module dimensions – 95 x 125 mm. I / O features on the boards include Serial ATA (SATA), USB 2.0 (8 pcs.), Gigabit Ethernet, IDE, and AC’97. PCI Express x1 and x16 interfaces available. DDR2 667 MHz memory supported (2 SO-DIMM sockets, 4GB max)
The manufacturer notes that the use of new products can form a new class of devices – laptop PCs with battery power for military equipment and industry. In addition, the list of possible applications includes imaging tools, gaming computers, information systems for public places.
The company promises to provide interested parties with COM 830 samples within the next month and a half. The price of the modules is about $ 500 per piece. Supported OS includes Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE and Linux 2.6.
