Kontron ETXexpress-MC: COM Express module based on Intel 965GM and Core 2 Duo

Kontron’s Computer-On-Modules (COM) Express family of modules has been replenished with the ETXexpress-MC model. Built on the basis of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor (frequency – up to 2.2 GHz) and the Intel 965GM Express chipset, the new module, according to the developer, is ahead of similar solutions in terms of energy efficiency.

The manufacturer includes the FSB frequency up to 800 MHz, the function of dynamic adjustment of the clock frequency, the presence of several power saving modes and the built-in TPM module 1.2. Information output to the display device is handled by an integrated graphics processor with DirectX 9 support (Graphics Media Accelerator X3100).

ETXexpress-MC was one of the first COM Express products to support dual-channel memory up to 4GB (memory recruited with DDR2 533 or 667 MHz SO-DIMMs). The board has five PCI Express x1 slots, three SATA ports, eight USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet adapter.

Declared support for Windows XP, 2000, XPe, CE and Linux. The release of the modules is planned to begin this summer, when the company promises to send the first trial samples to customers.
