Nallatech builds FPGA-based PCI-104 boards
Nallatech, a high-performance FPGA solutions company, has announced a new addition to its PCI-104 product family. A feature of the new products is the increased flexibility provided by the “multi-storey” layout of the boards – thanks to it, consumers can choose the optimal price-performance ratio when designing embedded real-time systems. Among the areas of application of the Nallatech PCI-104 FPGA product series are reconnaissance equipment, avionics, unmanned aerial vehicles. Each product in the series supports a wide variety of sensors and memory types, and can be easily scaled from a two-deck configuration based on a single Xilinx Virtex-4 FX FPGA to a five-board design with a total of seven Virtex-4 chips.
The process of designing the final structure is facilitated by a special toolkit – Variable Height Software (VHS). With this help, engineers designing an embedded system based on a Nallatech PCI-104 stack can add or remove FPGA boards to meet the size, weight, and power consumption constraints of the design associated with its application.
Nallatech is said to be the only supplier of COTS PCI-104 products based on the Xilinx Virtex-4 FX FPGA, offering scalability by changing the number of cards stacked.
